MEET LAIA AGUILAR

What does a regular day look like to you?

I start my day at 7.00 a.m. I have breakfast with my husband, we get the kids up, see them on the school bus, then we walk in the woods and start work: we think up campaigns, organise the creative team... It'ssuch a pleasure to do this surrounded by nature and beauty. Later I work in my studio at home or in our Girona office until 6.00 p.m. Then I play with the kids, we get dinner ready and watch and film together or we chat until bedtime. I love well-organised routine.

Tell us about The Animals Observatory. What does it mean? How did you come up with the concept?

Children look at adults trying to understand the rules of life. The brand name is a poetic way to imagine children looking at the adult world.

What's your favorite part of your job?

Working with my team and working alone. Each part of the process has its compensations and privileges.

Do you have children? How do they play a role in your company? Do they like your clothes?

Yes, I have two children: Pablo, who's 11, and Adriana, who's eight. They're my most reliable critics, ha ha ha.

What do you do on your time off?

My free time is for my kids. Aside from them, I love my job so much and it's so varied as creativedirector that I always look for the beauty in everything around me. So you could say I'm always working. Happily.

Do you have a specific vacation spot you like?

Definitely! Minorca.

What can you tell us for someone starting out on a new business venture?

Be a good animal, true to your instinct. And work hard, very hard.
