EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MISHA AND PUFF’S ANNA WALLACK

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MISHA AND PUFF’S ANNA WALLACK

When did you start, Misha & Puff brand, and how did your brand come about?

It started really organically, 5 years ago. I had been working as a stylist and took time off when I had my first child. I was in nesting mode, and instead of buying clothes, I started knitting.

This was it really. Knitting can be very addictive, and it has a beautiful meditative quality. Very soon, I was designed my own styles, and realized my perspective: yarn, patterns, styling was unique in the market. And Misha and Puff grew out of that.

What are some of your favorite designs, and do you have a favorite season?

I think every new season is my favorite. I love changing and innovating and trying new things. That being said, I do have favorites and my kids are now old enough to have their own favorites. My daughter loves her hooded jackets: the north wind coat and for spring the plum island beach jacket are her favorites. she can put them on herself and she is very proud of that.

Tell us about your family, and how they play a part in your inspirations.

Oh, they are always around. I love testing stuff on my kids. I get a very good read on what works and what doesn't early on in the process.

How has Misha & Puff grown since you started?

It has felt truly amazing. We started so small. In our living room making samples myself. Now we have over 200 knitters and are still growing. I am so proud that the work still feels really personal. And I still do knit samples and swatches as the jumping off point for designs.

How do you find time to balance your work and family?
I think I let a lot go. it's always a juggle as we all know. I try to be easy on myself and my kids. I am lucky to make my own schedule, so there are really busy months, but certainly slower months. During those times, I make it a point to be home more, and do special things (both my kids love museum trips).

Having the most AMAZING brand ever, you must be pretty fashionable too. What is your go-to designer or look.

Ha!!! thank you :) I have always loved clothes. A this point in my life I kind of feel like I have my look down. And what works for my lifestyle. I hate having "special" clothes for special occasions. I love pieces I can wear every day. Work in, be with my kids in, get messy in. I do not like the feeling of wearing something precious. So I always opt for pieces I can wash in fabrics that aren't delicate. I wear a lot of color, as well as vintage. And I love statement earrings! On a day I am not feeling it, red lipstick and statement earrings go a long way!

What can we expect to see from Misha and Puff in the future???
All I can say is, it's gonna be good. I love everything that we have coming up. It's very exciting!
